TikTok now lets you create chat groups

TikTok has introduced a new group chat feature, allowing users to share videos with up to 31 people, provided everyone is over 16 years old. Like direct messaging, group chats are not available to teenagers aged 13 to 15.

To join a group chat, you need to be added by a friend (someone you follow and who follows you back). Additional safety measures have been implemented for users aged 16 and 17, who can only join group chats if there is at least one mutual friend. If they receive an invitation link to join a group chat, they need to proactively accept it.

When a teenager creates a group chat, they are required to “review and approve new members,” according to TikTok. Users can also mute and block others within the group chat and report messages or the entire chat if they believe the content violates the platform’s community guidelines.

Each user can create only a limited number of group chats, and there is also a limit on the number of messages that can be forwarded.

In another new feature, TikTok has introduced stickers for direct messages. Users can create their own stickers and upload them for community use or choose from a selection of existing stickers. You must be 18 or older to upload your own sticker packs.
