Nouadhibou: Opening of a workshop to raise awareness about girls’ schooling

On Thursday, a workshop on raising awareness about girls’ education was inaugurated in Nouadhibou. The event was organized by the Mauritanian Scholars Association, with the participation of various scholars, imams, preachers, and relevant organizations.

During the opening of the workshop, Mr. Mohamedou Moulay Bidi, Director of the Governor’s Office in Tiris Zemmour, emphasized the importance of girls’ education. He highlighted the significance of this awareness day in promoting the education and training of girls in both religious and worldly sciences, noting its importance and alignment with social peace.

He pointed out that today’s world leaves no room for ignorance due to rapid modern advancements, asserting that girls’ education has become a central issue and calling on everyone to support this important project.

Similarly, Mr. Cheikh El Kébir Ould Bouceif, Deputy Mayor of Nouadhibou, explained that schools provide a vital environment that allows girls to acquire the fundamental skills needed to build successful lives. He added that education opens promising horizons for girls toward a better future, equipping them with tools to achieve their dreams and contribute effectively to community development.

The event was attended by the Governor of Nouadhibou, the Regional Director of Islamic Guidance, members of the Scholars Association, local elected officials, and the President of the Students and Pupils Association.
